We just returned home from a fabulous escape to Hawaii. PR thought it would be fun to check the weather in New York every day...only to discover the temperature was about 60 degrees colder in NY than Hawaii. Fun to know when you're enjoying the sand and sun, but not so comforting the day before returning to a predicted ice storm! I am thankful we landed on the runway and not in the Hudson- what a fantastic miraculous story!
It was fun to break out my "summer" maternity clothes for the trip (not the bathing suit, though...my belly was already sticking out of the bottom and I'm barely 6 months along!) We mostly relaxed at the pool or enjoyed the beach, and I reviled in every second of that wonderful weather and beautiful scenery. I honestly could not comprehend 82 degree weather that was not too hot or humid in mid January! It was lovely. My least favorite moments were when two women told me I looked 8 months pregnant. Yes, I agree, my belly is bigger this time around. My sister in law also thought I looked huge. Does this mean my abs will never remember their pre pregnancy position? I am a bit fearful.
I think the baby liked the trip, too : ) He didn't, however, enjoy the nine and 1/2 hour flight from Hawaii. Our flight out was near empty, so we had two rows between the four of us and we all managed to get a good nap in- sprawled out across three seats. I couldn't sleep a wink on the packed flight home (and it was a red eye, so it was just horrible.)
Though I didn't get to drink my fav, a Pina Colada, I did have about 3 Pina Colada flavored shaved ice. I think we will have to make this an annual trip- at least until we can permanently escape the frigid winters.
